Another 1st place for Moravia Jazz Band

The Moravia Jazz Band placed first in class 1A at the Indianola Show Choir/Jazz Band Encounter on Saturday, February 19. Matthew Seals, alto sax, also won the Outstanding Performer Award in class 1A. Individual certificates of recognition for soloing were:: Matthew Seals, alto sax and Charlie Hayworth, bass guitar. Other bands in class 1A were: St. Edmond Catholic High School Jazz, placing 2nd and BGM High School Jackson Street Jazz placing 3rd.
Members of the 2021-2022 Moravia Jazz Band are: Adam Dueker, Charlie Hayworth, Brody Robison, Parker Armstrong, Ivy Wubbens, Kaylin McDanel, Matthew Seals, Katey Kirkpatrick, Jaime Self, Kjirsten Albertson, Elizabeth Cremeens, Adam Uhlenhake, Jacob Irving, Carson Seals, Kaylen Robinson, Halley Kirkpatrick, Marshall Albertson, Lincoln Albertson and Blake Helmick.
“I am even MORE excited about this group!” director Lise Nelson commented. “The ensemble performs better at each performance, the group is very willing to take their good comments and comments on what we can do better to heart.”
The group will travel to Coe College in Cedar Rapids on Friday, February 25. They will perform at 2:45 in the Dahler-Kitchin Auditorium The 1A Jazz Bands competing with Moravia are Winfield-Mt. Union, Lisbon, BGM and Belle Plaine. Admission is free, HOWEVER, the audience MUST WEAR A FACE MASK to attend the performances (while inside).
